Overview

Kent is a lawyer in our Business & Commercial Law Practice Group. He qualified as a lawyer in 1996, working in Darwin and London before moving to Victoria and commencing with Nevetts in 2005.

Kent provides our clients with timely, concise, practical advice, and prepares clear and accurate documents.

He is active in the community, as Treasurer for Creswick Soccer Club Inc.

Areas of Expertise

As an Accredited Commercial Law Specialist, Kent has built up considerable experience in many areas of commercial law, including sale and purchase of companies and businesses (particularly financial planning and insurance businesses), shareholders agreements and buy/sell agreements, franchise advice, service agreements, loan and mortgage documents, PPSR registrations, land options and leases.

Kent is experienced in estate planning for high net-worth individuals with complex affairs, including the creation of sophisticated wills, discretionary (family) trusts and land trusts, tax and duty advice, and advising on self-managed super fund transactions.

Wind and Solar Farms

Kent has worked closely with farmers on wind farm documents since 2005. Over that time, Kent has advised and negotiated for farmers on many wind and solar projects (in some cases, multiple landholders on the same project), in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania and Western Australia, including:

• Stockyard Hill Wind Farm (Goldwind)

• Waubra Wind Farm (Acciona)

• Lal Lal Wind Farm (previously WestWind Energy)

• Nilgen Wind Farm (Pacific Hydro)

• Bodangora Wind Farm (Infigen Energy)

• Bulgana Wind Farm (Neoen)

• Moorabool Wind Farm (Goldwind)

• Portland Wind Energy Project (Pacific Hydro)

• Berrybank Wind Farm (Union Fenosa/GPG)

• Dundonnell Wind Farm (Tilt Renewables)

• Golden Plains Wind Farm (WestWind Energy)

• Kiamal Solar Farm (Total Eren)

and others which are in early stages and not yet public.

Wind and solar farm documents are complex and lengthy. They often commit farmland for two or three generations. Farmers want to know whether the terms they are offered are fair and reasonable.

With a wide knowledge of numerous agreements over many years, Kent can provide essential advice, reduce risk, and negotiate a better deal.
